for this series, i’m inspired by charcoal and ash – the contrast between blackened earth and the pale traces left behind by fire. i shaped this gaiwan from dark stoneware clay. on the outside, i brushed the glaze unevenly, allowing it to settle across the stony texture like ash over charcoal. the surface feels raw, tactile and alive in the hands.
